Aleix Pubill – Sofrigam

Solid sorption of ammonia appears to have a multiplicity of applications in the energy sector. It can be used as thermal batteries, without self-discharge, to produce on demand heat and/or cooling. Additionally, solid ammonia leads to very low pressures and allows a safer storage. Today, some research groups work to selectively absorb synthetised ammonia in the Haber-Bosch process.

The key element to master this forementioned sorption technology is the implementation of the ammonia absorbers. Sofrigam comes with an experience of more than a decade improving their manufacture, shifting knowledge from the laboratory scale to the industrial scale. Some of the cumulated knowledge and current work will be shared during the presentation.
