Ammonia is more and more considered as a carbon-free fuel having great potential for decarbonizing the energy, industrial and transportation sectors. Large scale use of energy conversion & decarbonisation systems exploiting ammonia poses unique challenges and offer many opportunities for the energy transition.
Duiker will present how their novel and unique ammonia combustion technology, called Stoichiometric Controlled Oxidation (SCO), can be applied as solutions for industrial decarbonisation and how it can facilitate the import of large quantities of renewable energy from abroad.
A retrofit solution will be presented where ammonia can be applied as a CO2-free fuel to decarbonize fossil fuel fired steam boilers. Another excellent possibility to enable large scale renewable ammonia to hydrogen conversion (cracking), with ammonia as the energy input for this process, will be discussed as well.
