The Western part of Europe, like more regions in the world, is not able to generate sufficient renewable energy for its domestic consumption. Importing renewable energy is a solution to overcome this and there are many routes to import energy. Ammonia as a hydrogen carrier is attracting more and more attention for economic reasons. After the imported ammonia is landed at a seaport and stored or transported further inlands, it will need to be converted again into hydrogen. The process that converts ammonia into hydrogen is called ammonia cracking. Ammonia cracking is the last key hurdle that needs to be tackled in order to build an ammonia to hydrogen supply chain to deliver the hydrogen at the right place for the right price. In his presentation Albert will address the main necessities for ammonia cracking and will actively involve the attendees.
